If you were asked what Solomon was, what would you ask for?
1 Kings 3:5
Write:
The LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream at night. God said, “Ask something of me and I will give it to you.”
Reflect:
If you were asked what Solomon was, what would you ask for?
I am not going to ask any of you to answer that question out loud. But, I think it is a very important question. In fact, my inclination is to stop the homily right here.
But, let me give you some things to think about as you are trying to answer that first question.
What does your family need?
What does your work need?
What does your closest friend need?
What does your church need?
What does your society need?
Do you notice what is absent in that list? The answer is: there is nothing about your need.
So I repeat my first question: If you were asked what Solomon was, what would you ask for?
