Since the Listening Sessions early in March, the members of the Parish Council had not been able to meet until May 12th for our regularly scheduled council meeting due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.  However, the Listening Session feedback received was distributed to the council and we have been reviewing the information during the past 7 weeks.

The council is planning on meeting very soon to specifically discuss the feedback, identify trends and work on creating a plan.  During the Listening Sessions we heard concerns regarding communication and transparency within the parish, understanding and appreciating cultural and ethnical differences, spiritual enrichment and evangelization, family and youth involvement in our parish activities and the list goes on and on. Our goal over the next few months will be to discuss the trends, create a plan and prioritize the action steps to further define the future of Sts. Peter and Paul, focused on one cohesive, collaborative and vibrant parish community.

Change is all around us, even more so now as we are trying to find our way through this pandemic. Change is messy, frustrating, challenging and scary. The council recognizes this. We know it will take a lot of work and patience and we are asking for your support. The discussions that take place and the decisions that are being made during our planning sessions may be difficult, however in order for us to grow as a parish community we need you to continue to be involved in our journey. You are the heart and soul of our parish and without each of you, we would be a brick structure without any life. Don’t get us wrong, the journey will be long, challenging and hard, but even the small successes will be the most rewarding,  such as Masses and spiritual activities that inspire all parishioners, leadership empowering each of us and a compassionate parish community operating as one, will result in an alive and energetic parish.

You may ask, how can I assist or be involved?  Keep on asking questions of your council members, look for ways that we all can  become one with fellow parishioners, listen and remove the thinking “this is the way we have always done it” and look for new ways or ideas, introduce yourself to others and ask them to become involved in parish activities, challenge the status quo, remain positive.

The Parish Council’s commitment to you is to communicate and keep you informed every step of the way. All we ask in return is your commitment to continue on this journey with us and your prayers for our parish and you!

Parish Council Members: Jesus Aranda, John Garner, Kathy Kaufmann, Jose Lopez, Kelly McCarthy, Richard Knudtson, Sid Smith, Tim Svoboda and Pat Cheloha.
